Michael is the president and managing partner of Berry Talbot Royer. He has over 25 years of accounting experience working at the international accounting firm Arthur Anderson and Co., a "Big 8" accounting firm, as well as at Reliant Energy, a Fortune 500 company, based in Houston Texas. Currently, he is in charge of the corporate and individual tax and accounting team at Berry Talbot Royer. Michael is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Maine Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the National Society of Tax Professionals. He has served on several nonprofit boards and business advisory boards. Michael served on the boards of Kennebec Technologies, Cheverus High School and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine, and the Children’s Museum of Maine.
Michael earned his B.S. degree in business administration from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Master of Science degree in taxation from Bentley College. He works extensively with Maine businesses from startup through acquisition, merger, growth, succession, and sale. With over 25 years of experience working with companies during all phases of their growth cycle, Mike brings a strong entrepreneurial and creative problem solving perspective to your accounting needs. Katie holds a bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Southern Maine and an associate's degree in Business from Southern Maine Community College. Katie started working at Berry Talbot Royer in 2006. She is proficient in both her native Belarusian and Russian (as well as English, of course!) After interning, Katie began her professional career at Berry Talbot Royer as a Staff Accountant and worked her way up to Tax Manager in four short years. Katie proudly became a Tax Partner in October 2012. She is a dedicated professional and provides strong financial advice to our staff and clients, as well as comprehensive accounting and tax services. She is also a certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.

Don, a native of Sanford, Maine, is widely regarded as one of the leading figures in the area of Maine Municipal Government Accounting and Auditing. He has conducted numerous audits of municipal and quasi-municipal organizations. He is a graduate of the University of Ottawa, a Certified Public Accountant, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Maine Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the National Society of Tax Professionals. He has more than 30 years of experience in the practice of public accounting, with a diversified client base, and a specific concentration in the area of municipal and school auditing.
Don and his wife live in Cumberland, where they raised their three children. Don served on the Finance Committee at his church for many years and continues to serve as a trustee for a private foundation. Marc has been a part of the BTR team since 2014. He earned his master’s degree in Accounting and Financial Management in 2010 from the University of Maryland University College, and has been in public accounting since then. Before changing careers into accounting, Marc was a signals analyst with U.S. Navy and with the defense contractor Northrop Grumman Corporation. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maine Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Marc manages our team of auditors and is experienced and highly skilled in audits of governmental and not-for-profit entities. He lives in Lewiston with his wife and children and is active in the Lewiston/Auburn community, including currently serving on Board of Directors for L/A Arts as its Treasurer. Hadje is a graduate of the University of Southern Maine, earning a degree in Accounting & Finance (summa cum laude) and master’s degree in business administration (MBA). Hadje joined Berry Talbot Royer in 2019 with over a decade of public accounting experience previously with a regional firm and with a large national firm. Hadje leads Berry Talbot Royer’s audit and assurance team, providing audit, assurance, and advisory services to a wide range of clients, including nonprofits, municipalities, schools, and commercial entities.
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maine Society of Certified Public Accountants. He serves on the Impact Investing Committee of the United Way of Greater Portland’s Brick and Beam Society. Hadje lives in Gorham with his wife, two children and dog. When not in the office, Hadje enjoys playing golf, fishing, and going on camping trips throughout the country with his family.
