As a reminder, there is relief for personal property tax through the Business Equipment Tax Exemption (BETE) and the Business Equipment Tax Reimbursement (BETR). Although the deadline for BETE has already passed, there is still time to apply for BETR. If you did not qualify for BETE, you may qualify for BETR as the criteria for equipment is different.
By applying for BETR, you can potentially be reimbursed for 90% of the tax paid on eligible machinery and equipment placed in service after April 1, 1995. If you did not receive the form from the state, you can download the form from the government website by clicking here or you can call to order the form at (207) 624-7894. The application forms are submitted directly to the state and are due by January 3, 2012.
